CRACKED AND UNEVEN.
The courtyard and connecting access were broken up and inconsistent, with ageing slabs and surface defects throughout the route.

Worn and uneven access areas rebuilt with proper preparation, a clean tarmac courtyard, slab wheel tracks and decorative red stone.
This was more than a tarmac driveway. The original paths and courtyard had cracked, uneven surfaces and mixed older materials. GMGB stripped out the working areas, rebuilt and compacted the formation, installed separation membrane where required and created three coordinated finishes suited to each part of the property.

The courtyard and connecting access were broken up and inconsistent, with ageing slabs and surface defects throughout the route.

The front entrance used a mix of old slabs and loose material. The new layout would retain practical wheel tracks while creating a much cleaner approach.

Unsuitable material and the original surfaces were removed so the new work could be formed from a properly prepared base.

New base material was placed, shaped around the existing drainage and compacted to provide stable support for the finished surfaces.

A separation membrane was installed through the access route before the paved wheel tracks and decorative stone were completed.
The completed Johnstone project combines a newly surfaced tarmac courtyard with large slab wheel tracks and decorative red stone through the front and side access—not simply one tarmac driveway.
